Welcome!

Hello and Welcome!

This is the first written post on the naked food life blog so i thought i'd take the time to give you a bit of a run down on who I am am how this all came into being..

Rather than bore you with a lot of words about myself here are some basic facts.

Name: Joshua del Mar
Age: 29
D.O.B: 7th of March 1980
Nationality: Australian
Current Home: Bali, Indonesia
Present Location: Chile, South America.
Work: Various projects combining art, music, health, well-being and travel.

When I was first inspired by this idea, it was basically just a thought to get in-shape, get back to being fit and healthy by eating raw-foods and exercising. You see, in 3 weeks time I am going to be a father, and I decided that if there was a time to start taking some more affirmative action about these things, it was definitely now!

So I figured that it might be a fun idea to watch my progress unfold, take some photos as I went along and put into a blog, writing about my experience and the changes that would be taking place in my body, in my mind and in my environment.

I didn't realize it was going to be an "experiment" as such. Mostly just a conscious effort to do the right thing and take those steps towards a healthier, fitter & happier life. And so, 2 weeks prior to my "official" starting date of May 23 I had been cutting out a lot of the heavier, naughtier things from my diet and began exercising more regularly, doing some running, cycling and lifting light weights etc.

The idea of an "experiment" only came on that first day when I pulled out this trusty MacBook, took a few snaps with the old Photo Booth program and began to play with the sounds, words & images with imovie to make that little clip that has started this new journey for me.

This is just a long winded way for me to say that although I have called this little quest, "my raw food fitness experiment", I haven't exactly approached it in the most scientific way.

If I had, I would have first stated my hypothesis. I would have accumulated the significant data and taken a few measurements, beginning with my starting weight for instance. Which in the 2 weeks prior was around 72kg. I would have also logged my food intake each day and also my daily workout and exercise activities... But alas, Im already 5 days into it and I have no records at all!

Now, in saying that, perhaps it is time to do a few of these things? Im not sure how obsessed I want to get with the whole thing just yet. Painstakingly writing down every piece of fruit that I eat and weighing it to the gram, or counting each and every nut that I consume and noting it caloric value doesn't really appeal to me or go with my rather laid back approach to life and all things in general... But hey, maybe that's just what I need? Mostly though, my intention was just to see and feel the results.

However, in the meantime, till I decide that I want to know every last nutritional detail and log every single weight that i lift, push up that i do and mile that I run, I will take the time to at least once or twice a week, share what I have done for the day, physically and nutritionally.

In this way, we can take a snap shot of what's going on and get a general idea of the process and what it is that Im doing. Who knows? I might end up obsessed after all, and become a mad raw food scientist, fine tuning every minute detail of my life and diet until i become the ultimate raw food weapon...

Hmmmm........... Well, now that's got me thinking. :o)
